This letter is dedicated to the wonderful community midwife who visited us in our home the morning after my son was born to check how we were doing.
She sat on my bed and watched me trying to position my brand new baba to get a good latch which was taking a couple of minutes while he was all fists and hungrily head-bobbing. She gently suggested trying a new position, showed me the cross cradle hold and bam! Instant, comfortable, strong latch.
From that moment, we never looked back and enjoyed 14 months of successful, joyful breastfeeding.
Thank you Fiona, from the bottom of our hearts. It’s the simple things that are often the most important.
